Today’s blog post is featuring Dave and Denise’s spring Bowman Distillery wedding! The week prior to their wedding day there was almost non-stop rain and thunderstorms every single day leading up and everyone was concerned about the weather for portraits. I told them that we could use the campus of UMW as their first look/portrait location because there are many buildings on campus that have covered porches and I knew we could still take advantage of still being outdoors and utilizing natural light without having them stand under umbrellas the whole time! Luckily, their day arrived and the rain had slowed and we ended up only having a few sprinkle showers off and on; we hardly even had to use the covered areas for portraits at all! Despite everything being wet and having to deal with puddles and mud, Dave and Denise were in such good spirits and I had such a great time spending the day with them.
Denise looked so timeless and beautiful in her Allure lace bridal gown and Dave looked sharp in his tux from The Black Tux. They became husband and wife in such a unique space — the barrel room of A. Smith Bowman Distillery. Sydney from Urban Grace Events was such a delight to work with and I know that her calm and helpful demeanor was so appreciated by the couple. Ally from Ally Voshell Makeup Artist did such a beautiful job and was even ahead of schedule with hair and makeup. The organic florals created by the talented Lynn of Wild Fleurette were just stunning — just wait until you see those big fluffy peonies and cascading amaranthus!
The Details
Their wedding colors were navy, gold and white. I love how Denise tied in a bit of navy as well as “something blue” in with her gorgeous bridal shoes, and check out the personalized stamped locket that Dave gifted Denise. Too sweet!

“Just Married” Distillery Portraits
A very kind staff member at Bowman walked us through a few of the spaces in the back so that they could get a few portraits that Dave and Denise had requested in other unique spaces. It was then that I discovered that A. Smith Bowman Distillery had won the title of “World’s Best Bourbon” from the World Whiskies Awards! How awesome!
