Loudoun County Weddings
Say "I Do" in the Midst of Loudoun County's Beauty and History
Loudoun County, located in Virginia outside of Washington D.C., is a perfect place for a memorable wedding. It has something for every bride and groom. For nature lovers, there are dozens of beautiful vistas thanks to the Blue Ridge Mountains. History buffs will love towns such as Middleburg or Leesburg with roots in our country's colonial past. Animal lovers will appreciate the many horse farms and the many species of wildlife who call Northern Virginia home.
For those couples who dream of the perfect backdrop for an engagement photo shoot, Sky Meadows State Park is an excellent option. The 1,864-acre park is centered around a farm that dates back to colonial times. In addition to the 19th century stone manor house, the park has a picturesque barn and farm animals to provide a variety of rustic backgrounds to showcase your love. All of this is nestled near the Lost Mountain and Blue Ridge, creating gorgeous vistas. For avid hikers, a photo session on the Appalachian Trial, which cuts through Sky Meadows, would be a perfect setting.
As wedding photographers, we know that having a unique architectural background is key to shooting memorable wedding photos. Historic Leesburg offers a lot of options for "first look" shots or other intimate moments including the beautiful Thomas Balch Library, the stately home of General George Marshall, or Main Street with its quaint storefronts and brick sidewalks.
The newest wedding venue in Leesburg is also one of its oldest: Oatlands Historic House and Gardens, a national historic trust site. The manor house and terraced formal gardens reflect 200 years of history. In addition, the extensive grounds, historic structures, and stunning vistas offer any wedding photographer nearly limitless options for identifying breathtaking settings for the photographs of your special day. The newly-opened Oatlands Hamlet, a beautifully renovated house on the grounds that was built in the 1800s for the original owner's daughter, is a perfect retreat for the bride and her wedding party to enjoy quiet and pampering before the celebrations begin.
If Oatlands is not majestic enough for your wedding vision, then Morven Park would be the perfect alternative. One of the most popular wedding venues in all of Northern Virginia, this 1,000-acre historic estate is a wedding photographer's dream as it offers a romantic backdrop for formal and sophisticated nuptials. During the spring and summer, colors abound as the gardens overflow with magnolias, boxwoods, and other flowers, set off by brick courtyards, intricate wrought-iron gates, and stunning views over rolling fields.
For couples looking for something more on the rustic side, Purcellville is home to Shadow Creek, a completely renovated barn that can be configured in several ways to accommodate up to 300 seated guests. If the weather cooperates, guests can play a variety of lawn games and then chase away any evening chill by gathering around the fire pits. If you are game for an extra guest, a beautifully groomed horse is available to photobomb any wedding photos (as desired).
Loudoun County offers a great deal for wedding guests as well. Those coming to the wedding will love the convenience of landing at Dulles Airport and being in the countryside after a short drive. If anyone needs a last-minute outfit for the wedding, Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets can quickly solve that problem. Finally, Washington, D.C. is easily accessed by car or public transportation, for those who want to tour the nation's capital before or after the Big Day.
